Breakout is a catastrophic accident, which have tremendous impact for slab quality and production safety,Studying the formation mechanism of the breakout accident and developing the key technology to breakout prediction have great significance to avoid or reduce the this occurrence .This paper presents a method of predicting breakout accident based on virtual instruments. Using the Embedded Controller NI PXI-8106, M Series Multifunction DAQ NI PXI-6221, 8ch, 13-bit AO NI PXI-6722, NI PXI-1031 Chassis and PC etc. to achieve breakout prediction system.The paper, starting from studying the formation mechanism of Breakout, looking for the casting process variables to effectively reflect breakout accident; Anglicizing the feasibility of mould friction used to be identified breakout and probing its on-line application method; Contrasting temperature variation which have been measured by thermocouple in mould walls on normal and abnormal state, creating the temperature identification model based on x axis; By studying the neural network theory and its application in respect of the application of fault identification, creating BP neural network and dynamic fuzzy neural network, simultaneously, using its and combining the temperature judging model based on x axis to confirm the breakout phenomenon; Finally, we constructed the breakout prediction system. The system includes two main parts of the sub-host computer and the next crew. The lower machine'function has been achieved on LabVIEW Real-time operating system, including all of the breakout distinguish arithmetic; host computer system as a whole in the Windows platform was developed by the MATLAB and graphical programming language LabVIEW. System interface could dynamic shows the thermocouple temperature, mold friction, timely warning, casting related parameters and generate reports.
