In the production process of steel industry, all sorts of high and new technology have been applied to the production of hot strip mill widely. In terms of rolling process automation, the computer control system of hot strip mill is one of computer control systems of the most rapid development, the most mature, and the most obvious economic effect obtained. Therefore, in a certain extent, the development level of computer control system of hot strip mill reflects that of a nation's rolling automation.This paper's based on lots of the related literature at home and abroad, then function structure, calculation process and file composition of finishing mills pre-setup and self-adaptive are studied in detail within the computer control system of hot strip mill. At the same time, the deformation resistance model of Jihua Zhou and Kezhi Guan has been added in rolling force model of finishing setup in the 1780 mm hot strip mill of some steel works at home to further research the calculation process of finishing setup. In the process of verification, regression coefficient file of Jihua Zhou and Kezhi Guan model has been created by means of programming using C language and the relevant calculation module of input has been modified. Then run the finishing setup program to calculate the steel grade on the spot relevant to one that Jihua Zhou and Kezhi Guan model regressed, and compare predicted value of rolling force before resistance model modified with that after modified. The result has been demonstrated that calculation precision of rolling force after resistance model modification has attained satisfied one.Smoothing coefficient is a very crucial factor for self-adaptive. Inappropriate value will have an adverse impact on the self-adaptive effect and fixed value is also unreasonable. Hence, the author summarized the influence factor of smoothing coefficient, and established the dynamical optimized model of smoothing coefficient. Measured value input from production field has been used to verify the effect of resistance model modified with the aid of C language, and compare rolling force error before and after optimization. The analysis result has stated clearly that dynamical optimization of smoothing coefficient is more helpful to improve the prediction precision of rolling force model.
