As one of the important remanufacturing engineering technologies, laser cladding has been applied to remanufacturing, such as car engines, rail vehicle wheel, aircraft engine blades, etc. But the rapid process planning technique is the bottleneck for the widely application of the remanufacturing engineering. Remanufacturing of laser cladding is deposited by multi-layer single-pass cladding material. Its shape is close related to the geometrical features of laser cladding. So an accurate model on the geometrical features of laser cladding is the key for rapid process planning of laser cladding.Based on the research of the geometrical features of cladding layer, the thesis makes up the model between the process parameters and geometrical features of cladding layer. Control the geometric shape of cladding layer and achieve the rapid process planning of laser cladding. In this paper, the key issue and solution are researched and discussed. The content is listed as follows: (1) Analyze the laser energy distribution, the interaction between the laser and the powder, endothermic process of the powder in the Gaussian beam and the substrate endothermic, set up the geometrical features model, and bring the effective utilization of heat-absorbing in the model. (2) Research the accuracy of model by experiment and analyze the impact of process parameters on macro-morphology, geometrical features and correlation coefficient of model. (3) Bring up the method of updating model, apply the quadratic regression method to amend the geometrical features model, and the model accuracy is raised. (4) Apply the geometrical features model to research the process planning of laser cladding. It is verified by experiment and the result is good.The theoretical modeling and experimental research make us known that the geometrical features model of the laser cladding can accurately predict the geometrical shape and guide the process planning of the laser cladding. Ultimately, it will provide a theoretical basis for the remanufacturing.
