The 3D software is programmed by visual basic 6.0 based on the Solid Edge. It has some features, including strong intention, high modeling efficiency, easy to learn and so on. Designers can create necessary parts by the programmed modules in the Solid Edge environment. And then they can finish assembly preciously and swift by the auto-assembly. Finally, with the saved drawing template they can create 2D draft according to their design customer by selecting relevant views. To create those modules, we must have a comprehensive cognition about reheating furnace and steel structure design. We should conclude a series of common characters from it. According to the shapes and effects of the furnace and steel structure system, this paper includes top of furnace module, side of furnace module, bottom of furnace module, top of steel structure module, side of steel structure module, bottom of steel structure module; according to accomplish assembly tasks in the assembly environment, this paper includes assembly module and so on. Those modules are specialty. we can finish the 3D design of reheating furnace and steel structure by combining with those modules. The innovation of the study is:being forward a method and its swift modeling, creating 2D draft and printing the bill of material based on analyzing its design feature of reheating furnace and steel structure and the Solid Edge. Nowadays, books about being programmed in the Solid Edge are not ample enough. The idea and method of the paper are also applied in other fields beyond the reheating furnace and steel structure design. Specially, the ideas of Auto-assembly and creating free pipes modules both will have better and lager development space.
