The control system of reheating furnace in Ningxia Electric Power Investment Steel Group is very simple, and the flow detecting valves of air system can not work well, furthermore, the ratio of air and coal gas is adjusted through manual work, which is so difficult to achieve proportion combustion in actual production restricted by the field condition and the operators'experience. At present, the reheating furnace is to be upgraded, regarding the group is replacing the gas system and is going to produce high-carbon steel.The alteration project in this paper is designed based upon the detection of loop automation system, the calculation of program, self-regulation, PLC, and computer control technology. The major functions of the reheating furnace include controls of temperature and combustion, direction-changing system, pressure, walking beam and other equipments, material tracking, and alarming system, in which controls of combustion, direction-changing system, walking beam control system, material tracking system are analyzed on technology improvement in this paper.Quite a lot of jobs are done on control strategy of combustion process, in which difference-prevelege PID and double limited value control are applied to adjust air and gas with a focus on the set and control process of loops for air and gas.Finally, the analysis of production process data show that the system is very stable, resonable, flexible with PLC, accurate in direction-changing, economic, easy to be adjusted online. The whole system can meet the requirement of heating well.
