Mine properties tend to poorness, smallness, miscellaneity and the traditional separation and reagents of mineral processing were difficult to adapt to the high-grade ore production of high recovery rate, low-cost. In the case of critical situation, new technology is in urgent need. Potential control flotation had already researched for a long time. This technology can improve concentrate grade, reduce the amount of reagents, therefore, research and application of this method more widely.Potential control flotation of molybdenite has been researched which focus on the effect of pulp potential on flotation performance and the mechanism of potential control flotation.Optimum flotation conditions of molybdenite are determined through tests:optimum pulp potential is 190mv-300mv, dosage of sodium sulfide is 6kg/t, dosage of kerosene is 64g/t, flotation time is 3min.The contrast study on open circuit of conventional conditions flotation and potential control flotation showed that the concentrate grade of potential control flotation is higher by 8 persents than that of conventional conditions flotation, kerosene amount of potential control flotation is 62% of conventional conditions flotation.The potential control flotation does not use of sodium silicate which solved the problem of tailing settlement difficulties.The mechanism of potential control flotation was researched in this examination. The E-pH graph of Na2S and MoS2 indicate that the surface product of material is controlled by potential at different pH values. Through the E-pH graph, the active component of flotation solution of Na2S and MoS2 is S0 under the condition of pH value around 11 and the potential between 0.22V and 0.30V. Using MoS2 electrode for electrochemical system testing, analysis and research, the voltammogram curves show:whether in the collector system, the surface oxidation products varies in different pH and scanning potential. When potential is 0.2V, the active components of MoS2 are H2MoO42- and S0. All the research show that S0 is the main factor that made potential control flotation of molybdenite realization,for the presence of S0 make mineral hydrophobic. In rencent years, potential control flotation has researched more at home and abroad and applicated in many concentration plants, but the potential control flotation of molybdenum has not been reported. In this paper, the innovation is combine potential with molybdemum to save the dosage of reagents and lower costs. Moreove, the test save sodium silicate,it can improve the mill environment, the safety of the tailings dam and the condition of water used for concentration.This test has enriched the theory of molybdenum ore flotation system and has an important role in promoting reform of molybdenum ore flotation.
