Concrete Face Rockfill Dams (CFRD) have become the preferred types gradually on the current international water projects. Because it owns the great ability to adapt to the topography and geological conditions, and its virtues are more convenient construction, lower investment, shorter construction period, safer operational, better resistance to shock.But the operation data of a large number of CFRD which had been built show that panel fault, open seams, seal failure and other issues which are caused by dams deformation and uneven settlement have become a major problem for CFRD, especially for higher dams.At the same time, dams' stress-strain analysis and forecasting have received more and more attention in the dam industry, and have become a focus of the study subjects.Based on the above, the paper uses ABAQUS which is a universal finite element analysis software as computer tool. Some research has been taken on CFRD as follows:1.According to the characteristics of concrete face rockfill dam, a suitable constitutive model for CFRD have been established, the contact effects between panel and cushion were discussed and my own point of view was put forward. Then, in accordance with non-linear finite element theory, reasonable load simulation on the concrete face rockfill dam has been done during the construction period and water phases.2.Choosing ABAQUS software as the development platform. The redevelopment procedures of the Duncan-Chang constitutive model were described. Then, the redevelopment procedures were used to analyze the stress and displacement of the concrete face rockfill dam with 100m hight. The result validated the redevelopment procedures was successful.3.The research of stress and deformation properties of Shuibuya in two kinds of operating conditions including completion and water period were taken with Duncan-Chang E-B model. A distribution of stress and deformation within reasonable limits were obtained. Through comparing them with reference's,analysis of the results were satisfactory. It was further verified that the redevelopment procedures were capable of the finite element method of the high.4.Take example for a 100m high CFRD, the effects of stress and displacement on Concrete faceplate were been studied by changing thickness of cushion. The results show that the appropriate thickness of cushion area can improve the stress distribution of the faceplate.The researches have useful utility to nonlinear analysis of stress and deformation for CFRD and are referential to numerical simulation calculate for geoengineering, hydropower structures and other engineering fields.
