Long Distance Water Transfer Project is an important approach of solving the problem of water recourses spatial non-uniform distribution. In order to transfer hydraulic water, avoid being secondary polluted and capacity-losing in the course of transferring and so on, it generally uses pipes in the project. The proportion of pipe cost is rather large in the total cost of long distance water transfer project using pipes, so an optimized designing of pipe system is definitive. Generally, it will kill part of the total cost by constructing optimized modal using mathematics method and acquiring the economical and reasonable pipe-diameter combination and pump combination. First state that the background and status quo of Long Distance Water Transfer Project. On the basis of this, the problems of diameter optimizing and water quality model are in discussion, mainly included:(1) Study on the two-level optimal design model of long distance pipeline. Because of the question that diameter optimizing can not be solved by a single mathematical model perfectly, based on optimization of the water distribution network in the past, adopt the two-level optimal design which combines the nonlinear programming model with linear programming model for the long-distance pipeline optimization which is of long trunk pipe and short branch to find the smallest investment.(2) Application the two-level optimal design model and Genetic Algorithm for the diameter optimization of long distance pipeline. Based on the analysis of a certain engineering example which is of 146.53 km long trunk pipe and belongs to the middle of South-North Water Transfer Project, adopt two-level optimal design due to optimization algorithm and genetic algorithms respectively to optimize the diameter. results show that:the application of the two kinds of algorithms can be realized for the long-distance pipeline optimization which is of long trunk pipe and short branch, also effectively save the money and make great contributions to the practice. But application scope,computing speed and accuracy is superior to Genetic Algorithm and other single mathematical models. (3) Research on one-dimensional water quality model of long distance pipeline. On the basis of the proliferation model of river water quality, comprehensive consideration of material conversed,rust adsorption and other factors of the pipeline, established the one-dimensional water quality of proliferation model and proposed method and steps of solving the model. This model is of important reference value to simulate the proliferation of contaminants in pipes and analyze the concentration changes of pollutants in long-distance water pipelines.
