Contemporary research focuses on computational mechanics has been further shift from the linear problem to nonlinear problems, from the static problem to dynamic problem. Contact problem is a very common non-linear behavior.The contact problem exists widely in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, hydraulic engineering and petrochemical engineering etc. But in practice the contact problem is very complex. The classical Hertz contact theory can't satisfy the accuracy in engineering practice. With the development of computational mathematics and finite element method (FEM), applying the FEM software to establish the numerical model and solving becomes an effective way to analysis the contact problem.In order to study Numerical simulation of contact problem, from the combination view of basic theory of the contact problem and FEM software, the basic theory of contact problem was demonstrated first. The application of ANSYS FEM software on the nonlinear contact problem was expounded. The merits of ANSYS analysis contact and the major steps were stated. Finally, the gear contact problem is elaborated. The gear is the important part of the modern mechanical transmission. Also it is the most prone to fail parts. Gears are evenly distributed on the circumference of a tooth protruding mechanical components, known as the convex part of the tooth or teeth. Gear is the use of two gear teeth meshing with each other to pass the mechanical power and motion transmission. In all of the mechanical transmission, the most widely used gear can be used to pass between any two axes of motion and momentum. In all of the mechanical transmission, the most widely used gear can be used to pass between any two axes of motion and momentum. Gear features are: compact than the belt, chain drive space required for small size. A smooth gear transmission ratio accurate, reliable, high efficiency, long life, which is also the other mechanical transmission can not be compared. A variety of gear teeth contact problem, generally material mechanics of materials method for the rough estimate. In fact, such problems should be seen in elasticity, plasticity theory, consider the contacts move, consider the irregular shape of tooth profile in the space, consider lubrication conditions, developed a sophisticated solution to the issue also contains a type of contact wear and fatigue and other factors, there is the danger point position and stress problems. This article continued to discuss the movement of gear design and carrying capacity of the design, contact finite element analysis of gear tooth contact to test the strength and bending strength of the effective methods.And on this basis, simulation of stress change analysis in the process of gear tooth meshing using ANSYS software. Get stress changes of teeth with time in the meshing process.The results show that using ANSYS software to solve dynamic contact problem, and the calculated results is more reliable than the calculation based on the Hertz theory, more precise calculation process automation in the post-treatment promptly, directly and accurately observed that the calculated results.
