Steel structure is an advantageous kind of structure style. As the rapid development of China's economic construction and the vast increase in steel production,steel structure develop rapidly in China. In foreign countries,steel technology is relatively mature which is used in all types of housing especially in low-rise residential. China's steel housing is still in the initial stage of exploration,but it is a future residential development. Because of heavy cost in steel housing,there is significant to do optimal design,both in saving steel sector and improving the force .During this optimal design,we use traditional optimization methods (complex method) and first-order provided by software to design.When we use complex method to optimal design,it takes two components,seeking the optimal distribution of moment of inertia in cross-section and optimizing in component's cross-section to carry out. We make the weight of the lightest steel frame house as the objective function.The constraint condition take full account of the strength,stiffness,overall stability and local stability. Then in the comparison of the conclusions of two ways,you can see,first-order method is more time-saving.Especially with the number of variables increases,constructing complex shape will become very complex,and the first-order method was out of the final results and better than the complex method.
