The vertical-component density mixture flow separation device(VCDM)is a new-style water-sediment separation device which is a patent invented by Prof. Qiu Xiuyun and Yang Lixing of XinJiang Agriculture University. The process of water & sediment separation with VCDM doesn't need any chemical medicine, and the sediment in the VCDM falls down quickly 1.9~3.7 times than the fall velocity in the stagnant water and it's velocity magnitude is nearly equal to the one of the separation process with chemical medicament. The VCDM can be used to sediment pretreatment in the waterworks or irrigated area. It is very significant to protect circumstance and popularize the drip irrigation and sprinkler irrigation techniques.In this paper, VCDM's integration model and it's silt discharge way applied in sedimentation pool have been studied and designed through many model tests, the results of which can be referred for the VCDM's application. At the same time, the sediment's settlement process has been analyzed from the view of mechanics. The primary work and results of the research are as follows:(1)The sediment movement path has been tested with the high speed camera, the result of which again proved that there was a vertical-component density mixture flow in the VCDM, and the sediment's motion path equation on the random position of the branchial piece of VCDM has been deduced through some mechanical analysis, which is from the theoretical view to pove up the sedimentation characteristics in VCDM.(2)The integrated model of hanging VCDM has been brought forward by many model tests in still water and dynamic water. The experiment indicated that integrated model of VCDM had the same water-sediment separation effect with the simple separation device and, the sedimentation velocity magnitude increase with the numbers increment of the VCDM.(3)This paper brought forward three ways to remove the sediment in the sedimentation pool with the VCDM and some tests about sediment removing efficiency have processed, which has indicated that the efficiency of capillary tube was higher than the S pipeline, and right-angled triangle channel had a high slurry consistence and a low water rate.
