Nowadays the issue of global environment deterioration has been in the limelight. According to the considerable environmental damage caused by building construction, the saving of energy consumption and reduction of greenhouse gas emission has been under the focus of the world. Studying on the environmental impact by architecture, not only from the view of running service period, but also the life cycle of buildings, is a meaningful work.In this paper, the life cycle of buildings is divided into five phases, building materials production, building materials transportation, construction of buildings, running service of buildings and disposal of buildings. Firstly, we research the intensities of energy consumption and CO2 emission in each phase of the life cycle, and collect architecture cases in Zhejiang province as more as possible. Then, we set up the database and framework of energy consumption and CO2 emission evaluation of buildings in Zhejiang province based on life cycle assessment (LCA). There are four main contents:1. Setup of the basic database of each phase in life cycle of buildingsBased on the unified energy inventory, the databases of energy consumption and CO2 emission of five phases in life cycle of buildings are set up separately.2. Setup of the inventory database of architecture cases in Zhejiang provinceMaterial lists of 44 buildings and electricity consumption lists of 966 residential buildings and 86 school buildings in Hangzhou are collected, in order to analyze the features of energy consumption and CO2 emission of buildings in different phases.3. Setup of the framework of energy consumption and CO2 emission evaluationAccording to two databases above, the framework of energy consumption and CO2 emission evaluation of buildings in Zhejiang province is established. It gives different calculation method in consideration of the details of data.4. Analysis of an architecture caseDinglan school program is taken as an example to demonstrate the use of the framework which is established to evaluate energy consumption and CO2 emission in each phase of building life cycle. At the same time, the method from Taiwan scholars is also used to analyze for comparison. To sum up, the results of this research can be directly used to calculate energy consumption and CO2 emission of a single building, and can be considered as reference when estimate buildings of different types. Furthermore, this research can also provide effective suggestion to choose appropriate energy saving and CO2 reduction strategy.
