With the progress of the power electronics, integrated circuit and alternating current (AC) servo driving technology, permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) servo control system has gained explosive development. It has replaced the position of direct current (DC) servo technology and become the main development direction of high-performance servo technology. The AC servo drive plays an important role in servo control systems and its design of hardware and control algorithm influences the performance of AC servo control system directly. An AC servo drive based on nonlinear PI speed regulator is researched and implemented in this thesis after a sufficient investigation on the development of the AC servo drive and its control algorithm.First of all, the simulation model of PMSM servo control system is constructed by Matlab tools. The nonlinear PI algorithm of speed loop is designed and optimized by genetic algorithm (GA). The simulation experiments show that the nonlinear PI adjuster can make a compromise between the dynamic and static performance of the system. Also, the adjuster has good inhibition on the load and parameter disturbances.Secondly, the hardware platform of AC servo drive based on DSP is constructed. According to the theory of modularization program design, the software development is completed based on the DSP programming technology. A thorough study of the realization of nonlinear PI algorithm on fixed-point DSP is carried out.Finally, both linear PI regulator and nonlinear PI regulator of speed loop are implemented on the designed AC servo drive. Contrast test results prove that the nonlinear PI regulator performs better than the linear PI regulator, but not as good as the simulation results. Considering the nonlinear factors, this phenomenon is normal.
