The Kun Ming new airport project is a national major project which is invested by Kun Ming government since 2007, and will be completed in 2010. It will be one of the most large-scale airports in China by its accomplishment. The airport station is no doubtfully the most important part in the entire project. The airport station which is lifeline project located in Kun Ming city, its seismic fortification intensity is 8 degree, and only 9 kilometers away from Xiao Jiang fracture zone. Experts predict that Xiaojiang frauture zone is the region which will possibly occurr earthquakes in the world in the next few decades. Therefore, it is very necessary to study the seismic performance of the airport station.Futhermore, Structural system of Kun Ming airport station is very special. If we apply the traditional earthquake resistanceon the structure, the effect will not be ideal and economic. And it will be difficult to design the structureonly by using the conventional base-isolated building system. We can't meet the vertical and plane stiffness at the same time. Therefore, this paper determines a suitable compound isolated plan, so that the seismic design of the airport can achieve the goals of security and economic.Concern to the Kun Ming airport station, firstly, this paper introduces the performance of isolation installation, the finite element analysis method and analysis theory.Then, it is difficult to meet the vertical and plane stiffness of airport station at the same time.So an additional space-composite damper isolation system is suggested in ths paper, and a six-storey reinforced concrete frame structure as an example to analyze the effect of isolation system, the isolation layer displacement of system can be controlled in seldomly occurred earthquake.Based on above analysis, the non-isolated structure model of this project is established by the FEM software ANSYS, Compared with the results of the software MIDAS, proved that the ANSYS model is available for the following isolated structure calculation. And then, the isolation structural design of airport station is researched. After establishing the composite isolation plan, the isolation plan is optimized by the calculational results, and the optimum plan is finally selected for the project. It is proved that the final plan played an important role in isolating and meets the requairment of design for upper structure to reduce 1 degree. The final plan has been used to Kunming new airport station.At last, the research in this paper is summarized, at the same time the deficiencies of paper are pointed out, the proposals for future research is put forward.
