With the development of the global economy, the increase in vehicle production in the year. So its brought many problems, energy crisis and environmental pollution are become major pressures for today's automotive industry. HEV(Hybrid Electrical Vehicle) is more and more popular by the public because of its good emissions,fuel economy and comprehensive performance. Gradually, become the future development trend of the automotive industry.This paper based on the traditional bus DD6123S06 using in the city traffic system. Through objective analysis and comparing the properties of the structure and the advantages or disadvantages of those hybrid vehicle, and considering the actual use requirements of the vehicle and costs or other factors, understanding of urban traffic characteristics and the road itself the operating characteristics of city bus, we made DD6123S06 became a series hybrid electric vehicle. According to the momentum indicator of DD6123S06, we determined the main parameters of the vehicle which we designed in this paper, such as engin, motor, battery and generator and the types of the main components.Analysised the principle of the ADVISOR which is a dedicated simulation software of hybrid electric vehicle and how to use it. his paper firstly introduces the backward-facing approach and forward-facing Approach and analyses their simulation principle and points out advantages and disadvantages in two methods above. Then describes the hybrid backward/ forward approach in the American electric vehicle simulation software ADVISOR. Built up the models of drive system, vehicle and the whole vehicle. Under Matlab/Simlulink conditions, we input the simulation parameters, set up the test performances and choose the cycle conditions base on ADVISOR. The result show that:the series hybrid electric vehicle which we designed compare with DD6123S06 has greatly increased fuel economy and improved emissions performance without lower impetus. And has a good prospects of application and the practical application of the social benefits. Analyzed and compared the modified car running in the different conditions on the vehicle performance. Therefore, this paper guides theoretically the development of series hybrid electric bus.
