| With speed up the commercial, social and information development process of the modern city, missing of Genius Loci has already become more general problem of existing in the landscape environment. It is not conducive to the overall development of the city, and also caused some negative effects to the people'lives. Nowadays, the tendency of emotion and humanity in Urban Landscape Design is increasingly conspicuous in the times of feeling which attach importance to experience, needs and emotional communication, and Genius Loci has the same meaning with the design of humanity and emotion. Therefore, the expression of Genius Loci in the Urban Landscape is vital. In our life, designers all hope to make comfortable experience and enjoyment for users. Common people also express emotion to life through their way. People can feel some sense of direction, identity and belonging when they are in the city landscape which is endowed with Genius Loci. Creating the city landscape environment with Genius Loci is people's long pursuit.With the theory of Genius Loci illuminated, this article makes research into the expression of Genius Loci in modern city landscape with design methodology and environmental psychology. The article contains six chapters. Chapter one introduces and analyses the background, purpose, significance, actuality, main content and methods of the study task. Chapter two is the concise introduction to Genius Loci, including the concept, background, philosophical origin and the relationship between Genius Loci and City Landscape Design. Chapter three illuminates the factors which influence the generation of Genius Loci, paving the way for the following chapters. In this chapter, the factors mentioned above are divided into subjective factors and environmental factors. Chapter four discusses the causes for the lack of Genius Loci in City Landscape Design. Chapter five starts from emotion linking the factors in chapter three and chapter four, and analyses how to construct Genius Loci in the main places of city landscape. This chapter contains two parts which shed light on the main content from the angles of designers and common people respectively. Chapter six puts forward some conception and prospects in the expression of Genius Loci in the city landscape.The article hopes to enhance self-awareness and emotional expression of common people through the research and illumination of Genius Loci. It also advocates people to protect environment, historical and local cultures, and appeals them to improve the style of urban environment and love city life. People should absorb the essence and discard the dregs to create urban landscape which contains Genius Loci of spirit times in the design of Urban Landscape. This enables city to develop healthily and harmoniously.
