In China, semi-rigid base has been the main pavement structure in the highway construction. Semi-rigid base may easily produce the shrinkage crack under the effect of temperature or humidity change, which leads to the creation and development of reflection crack in asphalt surface, and then induces other diseases even debases service life of asphalt pavement. Consequently, carrying out researches about the graded broken stone flexible base and the inversion pavement structure which having the graded broken stone has the extremely important practical significance.The paper describes from some aspects, such as laboratory test, theoretical analysis and paving testing road, etc to study the graded broken stone base asphalt pavement.According to a series of lab test, the mechanical property and main influencing factors of the graded broken stone base were analyzed. This paper talked about the gradation designs of skeleton dense-graded gradation broken stone material and continuous gradation broken stone material, through the analysis of granular material characteristics, compression strength, shear strength, permanent deformation, durability and volume stabilization, the investigation results shown that the main influencing factors are the inherent material properties, gradation and the Methods of forming.On the basis of elastic layer system theory, using Bisar pavement structure analysis program, analyze the mechanic characteristics of the graded broken stone base asphalt pavement and the semi-rigid base asphalt pavement which having the graded broken stone transition layer by selecting different structure parameters, and research the influences of different parameters to the force on structures. The results showed that the modulus of the graded broken stone has certain effects on stress distribution of the inversion asphalt pavement, that tensile stress, shearing strength and deflection decrease, with the increasing of modulus.The road performances of the graded broken stone base asphalt pavement were validated by paving testing roads, and finally, construction technology and management of the graded broken stone were stated.
