Tableware is a tool that people use to have food or drinking and also an art, it plays an essential role in life's embellishment and beautification.In China, the tableware has a very long history. from the ancient to the present, the development of tableware take a long process, with the constant changes and enrichment in the development of society, it derived from simple to materials ,processes, and other symbolic meaning. With the improvement of human life, food is no longer a simple and practical product, which was given to the art of the halo, as the bearer of art and function, it plays an important role in daily life, and it will directly affect the people's life quality of and lifestyle. Therefore, the purpose for tableware design is to meet the aesthetic needs of the people better, their function is very clear, should pay more attention on its artistic value. Shape of tableware and the expression of artistic value of is the focus of this exposition. There's in-depth study on classification, modeling, process, materials of tableware, the current situation and development trend and several other aspects of tableware industry. This article focuses on the history of traditional tableware ,the form features and the expression of their artistic value, the modern tableware design profiles were analyzed and take a further inquiry that how to develop the future of tableware ,it will apply a reference to the development of Chinese tableware design.Firstly, this article make analysis and comparison between the ancient Chinese tableware design overview and current profile of tableware design. A wide range of tableware in ancient China, different shapes, and contains a wealth of artistic value, reflects the profound culture of Chinese tableware.
