From the 18th century the Watt invented the Steam Engine to now the automobile becomes the main traffic tools of our life, it acts as a very important role during the automobile's development within 100 years of history. With the development of the automotive technology ceaselessly, each Oems and Parts suppliers cooperate closely. The difference between the use function and safety performance of the different automobile brands also becomes smaller and smaller.ln contrast, the comfortable performance of automobile, such as vibration and noise are often becomed one of the important factors to distinguish the bad brands and the excellent brands. Now, people have realized the importance to solve the vibration and noise problems of the vehicle during the process of automobile design. Therefore, all the automobile factory pay attention to reduce vibration of the vehicle and noise, to meet the people's comfort requirements.The problems of Vibration and Noise about the vehicle are a very complicated subject, and it involves many aspects of automobile, such as:the engine, car body, drivetrain etc. As the main source of vibration, the research about the auto drivetrain is the significant particularly important. Therefore, the people have done a lot of research for the torsional vibration of drivetrain,and got lots of effective solutions:the pulley shock absorber of engine, the clutch disc torsional shock absorber and the double mass flywheel. As the appearance of these solutions, we made a significant progress in the research about the drivetrain torsional vibration, especially the invention of the double mass flywheel, making it quickly became the best device about the automobile vibration isolation.At the late 1980s the double mass flywheel appears as a new automobile configuration, which is located in the power train between the engine and the clutch. Its purpose is to transmitting torque and to reduce the torsional vibration and noise. By the correct choice of the inertia, the stiffness and damping coefficient, we adjust the inherent frequency of the vehicle drivetrain,and make it to avoid the engine's incentive frequency, avoid the resonance, and plays a function of vibration isolation and noise insulation.Based on the vehicle drivetrain of a factory, we established the transmission system model of the idling and driving process. On the basis of analysis and calculation about the torsional vibration characteristics of the vehicle drivetrain, we designed the structure of the double mass flywheel, and made the simulation optimization of the vehicle drivetrain. On the basis of the 3d model of DMF to establish by CATIA, we used tentatively 3d-MAX software to make the demo animation of DMF. In order to verify the durability and vibration reduction of DMF, we made a test plan of DMF. And we have done the durability test, the bench test and the vehicle test analysis.
