Economic load dispatch and boiler thermo-economics diagnosis are effective measures of saving energy and reducing cost. They are also important ways of improving management and optimizing system operation.The whole coal consumption of power plant is taken as optimization indicator based on the comprehensive analysis of the economic indicators. Quadratic function is proposed to simulate the unit's energy consumption model, which provides a reliable basis for economic load dispatch; By means of comparing and analyzing the optimization methods, genetic algorithm is put forward to solve economic load dispatch. In addition, the thesis describes the basic principles and steps of genetic algorithm in detail, and it also raises an improved algorithm by designing and improving the heredity operators to overcome the limitations of the original algorithm. The use of the improved algorithm in economic load dispatch of condensing units is researched in the following. The simulation shows that the improved genetic algorithm has higher search efficiency and global search capability. It can meet the accuracy and real-time requirements. So it has good prospects in engineering applications.A polynomial fitting method is proposed to determine the specific heat of flue gas and fly ash. It can avoid the defects of manual input and is more advantageous to online calculation and monitoring. Meanwhile, a new boiler efficiency index is raised by the separation of energy conversion process in boiler. The boiler efficiency index is divided into three section including combustion, heat absorbs and heat yield. It could diagnose the type of malfunction of boiler efficiency accurately. By introducing the conception of the whole heat unit to the cycle function method (CFM), a general formula of inlet and outlet water coefficient of heat unit are conducted, and then a general formula is proposed to calculate work of auxiliary cycles, which simplified calculation of distribution of discharge in the CFM. Finally, this thesis compares advantages and disadvantages among the matrix method, the CFM and the equivalent enthalpy drop method.This thesis analyzes the methods and programs of the optimization system. By the use of programming software C#. Net and SQL Server 2000 database, entirely graphical user interfaces system is preliminary developed. The system is help for optimizing operation, saving energy and enhancing the economic efficiency of power plants.
