Large-sized surface vessels are the important force of nations'coast defence, which play a significant role in navy. So the performance of explosion resistance and vitality are the emphasis of research. In order to ensure the higher battle capability, active defending means should be matched with passive defending means rationally. In this thesis passive defending means are researched in order to decrease the vessels'damage to least after being attacked.The research of surface vessels'shipboard defending system is focused on underwater defending of shipboard and above water defending of shipboard's important cabins. Based on the design conception of conventional large-sized surface vessel's defending system, optimization designs are conducted for local structures at shipboard to obtain new-type structures and materials of shipboard's defending system with better effect, which can improve the capability of explosion and shock resistance of vessels and provide references for the development and application of shipboard's defending structures and materials.Firstly, the in and out research statuses of shipboard defending structure, new-type defending structures and new-type defending materials are summarized. The shortages of surface vessels'defending system are got.Secondly, the vessel explosion theory, the laminboard theory and the impact characteristics of vessel materials are introduced.Thirdly, the research of underwater defending of shipboard's structures aims at two typical structures which are basic defending board and cabin cross-clapboard. New materials such as polyurethane and foamed aluminium are used in the basic defending board to research their effects to the performance of structures'explosion resistance. Based on traditional structure form of cabin cross-clapboard, four new structural forms of cross-clapboard are brought forward for inner and outer cabin respectively. And the performances of new cross-clapboards are researched to gain the optimization structural forms. Based on the researches of basic defending board and cabin cross-clapboard, the optimum shipboard defending structure is got. And dynamic response comparison analysis between the optimum structure and the original structure is done so as to verify the validity of the structure and material optimization.Lastly, based on the process of air blast, it is divided into three steps to research the performance of explosion resistance for above water shipboard's typical defending cabin. In first step, the anti-armor-piercing performance of typical cabin and new cabin are researched respectively; in second step, seven typical anti-ship missiles are used and the damage effect of explosion fragments to typical cabin is researched based on theoretical analysis; in third step, five new high-performance materials are applied to defend the typical cabins and the damage effect of explosion wave is researched.
