In China, traffic volume increases greatly along with the rapid growth of economy and culture, and load is increasing continuously also, the capacity of the road is challenged, and the results lead to the detriment of asphalt pavement prematurely, affecting road traffic conditions, endangering traffic safety as well. Whether the current pavement structural design adapt to use requirements under the new features of transport, how to establish economic and rational pavement structural design is recently needed to be solved by researchers. long-life pavement has become a hot point worldwide, besides, in Europe, the United States, Japan, and South Africa were practiced, some research results are gotten. In this paper, the specific situation of ZhangShi Highway, in view of existing asphalt pavements structure based on three different forms of base that are prevalent in road sector, using finite element methods and orthogonal experimental method , elastic finite element analysis and the equivalent axle load conversion were done to pavement structure based on different forms of base that are imposed by non-uniform load on the rectangular force. In the first part, the traffic volume was investigated with gap-type approach; it consists of various types of vehicle weight, axle load, plus the pressure of the wheel. Survey results show that the highway is composed of heavy traffic, and overloading is severe. In the second part, according to all kinds of bases applied in long-life asphalt pavement that bearing heavy traffic in China presently, the pavement performance characteristic of stable bases material are analyzed. In the third part of this thesis, the relationship between axle load and tire contact area, and the overload characteristics of tire contact pressure distribution form were surveyed and studied. The impacts of different primary structures on pavement structure were comparatively analyzed with orthogonal test method and finite element method. In the fourth part, each equivalent conversion indicators was confirmed and equivalent axle load conversion equation is deduced.
