Research On The Design Of The Senior Citizens' Living Environment

Along with socio-economic and technological development, the structure of world's population is changing and population aging has become a commonly serious problem in human society. The global trend of population aging is inevitable and under the premise, China has also joined the"aging-type"countries in the world. How to make physical and mental health of the dignity life for the senor citizens has become a urgent social problem.This paper, taking the increasing development of aging population in China as the researching background, analyzes the elements influencing living environment of the Chinese senior citizens, researches the elder's physical and psychological characteristics and combines with the development process of living environment as well as current status of the old people abroad. Through the experiment of questionnaires, interviews and photographs, the author has find out that the design should be originated from the actual situation of the senoir citizens'living environment as a starting point. After analyzing the features of the space environment and the equipments, the author creatively proposes the suitable design of living environment for the senior citizens as the core and adheres to the design thinking of"people-orientation and basing on needs of the senior citizens"with the purpose to recognize and resolve design issues so as to create the environment of adapbility, direction, diversity, accessibility and sustainability. Thus this paper then respectively elaborates the internal living environment (furnishings of living room, bedroom, kitchen and bathroom, colors, lighting and greening) and the external environment for the senior citizens (activity space, rest space, walking space, green space and the detailed design of spaces and sites of architectural) from the overall planning and detailed design and the author puts forward the personal perspective of researching with strong effectiveness.
