Elderly Residential Universal Design

Since China is going into the aging society, there are increasing problems that older people have to face. Meanwhile,it brings new challenges to designers. The population aged quickly,and it gradually tends to be senile.Therefore, the aging society becomes diversified and multi-layered. In consideration of the old this special social group, the social welfare and national policy should be approved. And the residential hardware facilities of old people should be improved to maximize the comfort level so that they can enjoy their old life. Also,the life and living quality of them should be guaranteed to create safe, healthy and comfortable old life for them.This paper is from the perspective of barrier free design, and combines with physiology, psychology and special daily behavior of the old. Integrate and design the house for the old and design a set of bedrooms which adapt old people to live in by means of researching online, accessing to books and field researching. The paper is divided into five chapters. The fourth chapter illustrates the scale configuration of the environment and the connection between space and position. Meanwhile, it studies the action line inner house of the old on wheelchair, and it is good to increase the lighting and ventilate, and improve the flexibility of the space, reasonably using the elastic space of the house. At the beginning of the fifth chapter, the paper mainly analyzes the bedroom of the old. Striving to make all the facilities in the room appropriate for old’s daily life by designing the door, window, furniture, basic decoration and soft adornment. And guarantee the comfort,sustainability of the house of old. Eventually achieve the barrier free of senior residents.
