With the metro line of Guangzhou continue to extend, escalator in a large increase as a metro station passengers transport system. The escalator will consume a great deal of electric energy due to it s big power, heavy load and need to be continuous operating for at least 20 hous every day. In fact we found that most of the electric energy consume of the escalator in the metro station is useless. To take the export up escalator of the metro station for an example, we surveyed on site and as a result it shows that the full load time of the escalator continue only about 45 seconds after the train arrived this station. If the train come into the station every three minutes, the load continue rate of the escalator is only 25%. For the rest of the time, the escalator is runing on empty load or very lower load condition, it will wasting a great deal of electric energy. Considering the earth that minkind subsistence and development is facing the pollution and short of energy problem, it is very important for energy saving design, increase the energy efficiency, protect and improve environment. And we also must insure the escalator runing on the premise of safe and reliable.This article will introduce the work principle of escarlator, then detailed analysis escalator energy consumption to find the key point of the energy saving for escalator. Base on this key point and the new technic of escalator we will provide some new and pratical methodes to saving energy. Such as add intelligent electric energy saver device, automatic voltage adjustment, Y alternate and automatic frequency conversion. We have analysed the energy saving effect for the above methodes, finally we make a conclusion that the use automatic frequency conversion is the best method. In the end, we will detail introduce the design of escalator frequency conversion energy saving system.The escalator frequency conversion energy saving technic with high compatibility can use in different rise hight, different speed, different frequency conversion equipment and different vendor for all of the escalator. And it is high reliable, valuable for customer.
