The Study On Color Application In Plant Landscape Design In Urban Landscape Architecture

A perfect gardening plant landscape should be a high consolidation of science and art. That is to say, it should satisfy the unification of plants and environment in ecological adaptability, as well as embody the plant's forms beauty including unit and colony along with the beauty of plant's artistic conception when people enjoying. As the foundational characteristic of landscape ornamental plants, color is the most key factor of embodying the forms beauty of plant landscape.As one of the four factors in landscape gardening, the evolvement of plant's ornamental forms is going with the culture and art in the long history of the East and the West landscape architecture. Up to the modern times, with the speeding of urban development and improvement of ecological consciousness, more and more attention is given to the plant landscape design. However, many problems come forth in practice of landscape design, and the application of color in plant landscape design is one of them. In order to improve the landscape quality, it must be solved.That's the studying springboard and purpose in this thesis as well.Applying the induction and summarization studying method, combines the basic theories of chromatics and the chromatics for design, as well as the application skills of color in plant landscape design of world traditional and modern landscape architecture,this thesis analyses all the factors of plant landscape color, and finally concludes the color application principles in urban landscape plant design:1.The composing artistic principle of plant color;2.The general application principles of the factors including basic color, other colors,background color and other affecting factors which considered in plant landscape color design;3.The application principles of contrast and congruity of plant colors;4.The principles of the applying area and the appropriate degree of plant colors;5. The principle of seasonal design of plant landscape colors.By basing on these principles, launching on six parts:the familiar basic color series of ornamental plants in city landscape, the discriminating characteristics of ornamental plants which in common use, plant color design using as space factor, the plant color design theme of familiar color series, the matching color of plant with other gardening factors,the function construction of plant's cold and warm tones, and so on, the thesis gathers examples from Shanghai, Shenzhen, Xiamen, Nanjing and Changsha, analyses abundant plant landscape cases both at home and abroad, and finally brings forward some suggestions about color applying in plant landscape design in domestic modern urban landscape.At length the thesis is expected to provide some beneficial references for the color applying practice in modern urban landscape planting design.
