Steelmaking is the use of air or oxygen to remove impurities contained in pig iron, such as carbon, silicon, phosphorus, sulfur and so on, a process of making steel with specific properties. In the steelmaking process, in addition to production of steel, it is also accompanied by a certain amount of waste generated, which we call steel slag.China's domestic steel slag has accumulated more than a hundred million tons, and millions of tons of slag per year are still increasing. Large amount of steel slag heaping into a mountain, not only becomes a public hazard of environmental pollution, but also takes up a lot of land. In China, the utilization of steel slag is lower. If the use of steel slag is not comprehensive, it will occupy more and more land, affecting the sustainable development of the steel industry. Therefore, it is necessary for slag reduction, recycling and comprehensive utilization. Utilization of steel slag waste at home and abroad has become an important research topic.Strengthening environmental protection and efficient use of resources is the theme of today's world. Steel slag as a waste of resources, how to use scientifically and effectively, turn waste into treasure, applied to the foundation treatment is an important issue.About the mineral composition, physical and chemical properties and its basic mechanical properties of steel slag, many scholars at home and abroad have already conducted a lot of research, at the same time made a great deal of research results. For the recycling of slag in China, the study is not enough in depth and breadth, resource loss ratio is still not small.The slag as the main material for building in the research of foundation treatment, is still rare in the international arena. Through this research project, according to the author, the slag and clay mixed soil material with the ratio of the large number of different physical and mechanical tests, analysis of the mechanical properties, the best mix and the best water content for the waste slag application on soft ground to provide a theoretical basis for geotechnical engineering in order to achieve its effective and scientific utilization. The implementation of this project will be combined to make great contributions to the development of the foundation, theory and practice in geotechnical engineering and other aspects of the development of great significance.Development of circular economy is the trend of the 21st century, and is the fundamental way to solve pollution. Through this research project, steel slag will be applied to the ground treatment processing, which can fully save natural resources, maintain urban construction environment, conducive to China's resource and environment, and promote the development of circular economy to achieve the waste recycling purposes. On the other hand, due to a number of large steel companies in China, the effective application of slag to the building construction, in the subsequent handling of soft soil foundation has a broad application space, and will bring enormous economic and national social benefits for the development of circular economy.
