With the continuous development of city,s construction, the columns and beams bear higher load than before due to the extension in height and span of building. They must provide high strength, small cross-section and high ductility, convenience of construction, economical and practical to fit for the safety, using and aesthetic requirements of the buildings. In order to meet these demands, steel reinforced concrete special-shaped columns and special-shaped concrete-filled steel tube core columns were drawn forth. There are three kinds of them in regular use. They are cross-shaped, T-shaped and L-shaped. All of them can be used for central column, side columns, and corner columns. They can meet the above requirements while avoiding the weaknesses of appearing column corner indoors for using traditional rectangular reinforced concrete columns, and more conducive to interior decoration and furniture layout in order to save space. In this paper, based on experimental and theoretical analysis on steel reinforced concrete special-shaped columns and special-shaped concrete-filled steel tube core columns by the research group , by finite element simulation and numerical calculation methods, analysis of these two columns in different states by the mechanical properties of strength. The major contents are summarized follows:Using model size and mechanics of materials index of the test, the useing of large-scale finite element analysis software ABAQUS to the cross-shaped section column with steel reinforced concrete columns at different rates of axial compression, and large bias, small bias, the size variation of bias when conducted separately simulation analysis; at the same time on the T-shaped and L-shaped section column with steel reinforced concrete columns of the axial compression performance simulation analysis, reached the carrying capacity of each specimen, the specimen failure mode, load - displacement curve as well as the components of the load - strain curve, elaborated on the various specimens of the failure mechanism and damage characteristics.Numerical calculation by MATLAB programming arrives at special-shaped concrete-filled steel tube core columns bearing capacity and bending moment formula. with the experiment and finite element simulation of bearing capacity derived from a comparative analysis, the results showed that derived using three methods of specimen bearing capacity of less errors and in good agreement, self-compiled program which demonstrates the feasibility and applicability; On this basis, by changing specimen's load angle, eccentricity, pipe diameter, pipe thickness and different limb length ratio, we can analyze bearing capacity of the special-shaped concrete-filled steel tube core columns and obtain variation of bearing capacity to specimens under different conditions.It can provide a reference for the practical application of special-shaped concrete-filled steel tube core columns.
