The steel-concrete composite slim floors, with the concrete slab laid on the lower flange of the steel section and the majority of steel beam encased in concrete slab, ensure the bonding force between steel and concrete and make them working well together. As a new type of floor systems, it has the advantages of low structural height, fast construction and good fire resistance. Recently, the composite slim floors have become widely applied throughout Europe and have also been used in some projects in China; especially the composite slim floor with deep deck has become the present focus in multi-storey steel residential buildings.Up to now, researches on composite slim floor systems are mainly on composite slim beams and beam-column connections and a few ones are on simply supported floors. And that all the above tests were conducted under only the vertical loads but investigation on the load bearing capacity and loading capacity of composite slim floors are still limited. For practical application of composite slim floors, a well understood on the loading property under horizontal loads is also important, especially in earthquake-prone regions.In this dissertation, a full-scale test and theoretical analysis are used to investigate the loading capacity of composite slim floor with deep deck. The main tasks are concentrated on the followings: A full-scale two-storey, two-bay by one-bay steel-concrete composite slim floor with deep deck has been fabricated, and tests under different loading cases were conducted to investigate the bearing behavior and load bearing capacity of the composite slim floor under different loading cases..In addition, some suggestion on the improvement of composite beam-column connection has been proposed.
