| Since we entered consumer society, the consumption almost become the main way to experience the public life. Commercial district, represented the main consumption space in urban has become the most important public places. From 2003, the total retail sales of consumer goods in Beijing increased in three years and become the largest city in the consumer market. The development of commercial street and business distracts take the lead in Chinese cities.In this paper, the new commercial district built after 2003 in Beijing are the main examples. Under the direction of urban spatial theory, behavioral science, place theory, and consumption space theory, the research focus on the spatial pattern of the commercial district under the influence of the consumer culture and the analysis of characteristics of space, including urban, landscape, and the relationship with users. And the commercial space knots and elements also been studied. Then we can sum up the design methods of contemporary commercial district. The five types of commercial district in the paper adapt to the current economic development of China, they inherit the characters of traditional commercial street and learn from the western business district. Face to "Twelfth Five-Year" plan, this study has important value.This paper research on typical commercial street in Beijing. With comparison and analysis, the paper sum up the new features and the design principles of contemporary commercial district.All these researches are benefit for commercial district designing and building now. |
