The wind power is a kind of renewable green power resources. It is apermanent source with no exploring and transporting. To solve the problem of energy's shortage and improve the environment quality, a lot of countries use windpower to produce electricity. The power output of a wind power plant is stochastic, which is determined by the wind and wind turbine generators. If a wind plant has more wind turbine generators, the change of its power output will become smooth. This kind of large wind plants will bring many problems to the power system's operating.This paper has analyzed these problems and calculated the wind power penetration limit. The paper introduces an optimal method based on approximate linear programming for calculating the wind farm penetration. The analysis of capacity of wind farm which power grid can support is an important content. Based on the consideration of power system static security constraints, mathematical model of calculation on Wind Power Penetration is established combining with the the joint iterative algorithm of load flow in wind farm. Then we used linear programming optimization algorithm to calculate. This method can be integrated with the consideration of the characteristics of load plow of wind farm and practical constraints. It can accurately reflects the key constraints which influence capacity of wind farm. This method has better convergence properties, and use it can obtain more accurate and actual capacity of wind farm which power grid can support, which is important for application of engineering.
