With the rapid development of electric railway, especially high-speed railway construction and operation, pantograph-catenary arc phenomenon is attracting more and more attention. As the pioneer of the world's earliest high-speed railways, Japan scientists have done a lot of research on the pantograph-catenary arc detection. France as the holder of wheel/rail train supreme test speed, pantograph-catenary arc detection is the evaluation of high-speed operation state train main index. The main methods of research the pantograph-catenary arc are according to the design of test prototype or relying on real train state, and a lot of scientific experiments have been done.This thesis, summarized the research progress and results of the test device at home and abroad.Through access to relevant information on principle and characteristics of the pantograph-catenary arc, the arc characteristics were analyzed and summarized. Designed of a pantograph-catenary arc test setup, the device can simulate the phenomenon of arcing when the train running and passing phase state. By measuring the arcing electrical parameters, analyzed the arcing voltage and currents waveform affected by different load cases. Through the Lab VIEW software analysis the voltage and currents waveform, processing the signal with 25kHz collection frequency,2500 data sampling points, results shows the harmonic below mainly concentrated in 500Hz, and composition with interharmonics.We summarized the pantograph-catenary arcing detection methods and latest progress, based on the pantograph-catenary arc test setup conditions, used of optical methods the fundamental test detection have been done, and analyzed of the arc optical detection factors.Participating in the new generation high-speed test trains detection subsystem pantograph-catenary arcing detection unit, designed the hardware unit. Compared to domestic and international methods, match the practical application environment of engineering background, designed pantograph-catenary arcing detection unit hardware and conducted initial tests, the unit is working in proper condition.In the last, outlook the pantograph-catenary arc detection unit design and research in the future, pointed out the necessary of development work to promote the high-speed test trains detection subsystem pantograph-catenary arcing detection unit can be practical.
