The pantograph and catenary system is the energy supply system for the running of high speed train. With the increasing speed of modern high speed train, the interaction of pantograph and catenary system becomes more complex. The dynamic properties are having a greater influence on pantograph and catenary system, Establishing a pantograph-catenary system hybrid simulation test rig has become more important for the study of the dynamic properties.This paper reports the design and construction of pantograph-catenary hybrid simulation test rig. Firstly, the testing methods for the pantograph-catenary system hybrid simulation test rig are introduced. Secondly, the mechanical and hydraulic systems are designed to reproduce the pantograph-catenary interaction which based on the actual motion rule of it (Pantograph/Catenary system). And then according to the requirements of mechanical and hydraulic system and the testing methods chosen, the overall scheme for measurement and control system is designed, which based on industrial computer and motion control board, Finally, a detailed describe about hardware and software are given.In terms of hardware design, the electrical design is completed according to the overall scheme of system. After the servo motor and hydraulic system control mode are confirmed, the related hardwares are assembled according to their corresponding function, which based on the overall control scheme.In order to meet the requirements of users, the human-computer interaction interface is programmed by Visual C++ language in software design.Single-axis motion control and Compounds motion control can be accomplished by the use of multi-threading, PID control, serial port communication and other technologies. At the same time, the function of real-time data acquisition, display and storage can be done while axises moving according to the requirements of users.It turns out that the test bench can satisfy the user’s function very well, after unremitting improvement, optimization and debugging for it.
