Eccentrically braced steel frames can provide high elastic stiffness and large inelastic energy dissipation capacity. Because the link beams are separated from framing cross beams, Y-type eccentrically braced steel frame has more special advantages, and many experts have interest in it. At present, most of the research results in plane frames. As a result, the frame's actual loading-bearing circumsrances have remarkable difference.ANSYS11.0 is applied in this paper, which is one of the finite element analytical software. A finite analytical model, which include 3D element applied to it. This paper applies material nonlinear finite element method to systematically analyze the overall mechanical behavior of the Y-type eccentrically braced steel frame in flat and space. Through the calculation and analysis, the behavior of three layers steel frame under cyclic loading is given. At the same time, the same analysis on 3D K-type eccentrically braced steel frame for comparison. Through the calculation and analysis, the result show that the structure's strength, lateral stiffness, ductility and energy dissipation and so on. The difference on loading-bearing between the plate frames and 3D frames is given.The study analyzing the 3D Y-type eccentrically braced steel frame's load-bearing performance in a rather comprehensive and systematic way, some meaningful results are obtained, and the conclusions can be useful for guiding engineering design.
