With the social development and the improvement of human life, the luxury car has become a necessity for human life, and the automobile industry has been rapidly developed. And as human energy saving requirements increase, the electric car for its energy saving, clean, etc., has become a race development of the industry of car manufacturers worldwide, and will lead the world automotive industry. Currently, the major car manufacturers in the future in order to obtain a place in the electric car industry, have developed a variety of competing types of electric vehicles, including Pure electric vehicles, hybrid electric vehicles, fuel cell electric vehicles, and a considerable part of the model has been fulfilled mass production, and performed well in the market.The development of electric vehicles depends on the development of core technologies, namely batteries, electric vehicle motor driving and control technology. As the control technology of DC motor has matured, the torque and speed characteristics are more in line with the requirements of the ideal traction characteristics, and the series excited DC motors with large starting torque and overload capacity, meet the electric car fast start, acceleration, climbing, frequent start and stop, this paper mainly researches the control principle of the series excited DC motor, and have a brief introduction of hardware and software of the controller.Based on the status of the principle of motor and related technical controllers, combining research topics of the actual situation, the ideas of modification of electric vehicles and the motor matching theory was put forward. Through analysis of working principle and control methods of controller, formulate series excited DC motor controller with the control strategy of double closed loop. Use current negative feedback to control the armature current. Use the speed feedback loop to control motor speed. Using Simulink in Matlab establishes motor control simulation model, carries on the simulation analysis, the simulation model by repeated revision control strategy to speed and stable performance, accord with the ideal of traction.With the special structure and performance of electric vehicles, the paper has given the function definition for motor controller. The overall design and structure of its main hardware design of the electric vehicle controller has been described. Mainly completed the program preparation of the dual-PI regulation of the controller and its main software modules are analyzed. Finally, the controller are loaded, and combined with the "electric vehicle motor and controller," the performance test standard for testing the controller, the relevant experimental results show that the controller can achieve the desired, fully proved that the feasibility and practicality of the double loop speed control strategy.
