The cars have brought convenience to the world while also brought a lot of problems. In the background of energy crisis and environment deterioration, developing electric vehicle is effective measure and inevitable direction to solve these problems. Electric vehicle styling design is product decision-making stage which is the key to decide the fate of product. As the raise of requirement of car's styling, it is very significant for expanding electric vehicle to study styling design of them.As quick development of computer aided styling, great change arise on the method of car styling. The application of styling design flow being based on digital technology become more and more wider. Computer aided styling can increase efficiency greatly and enhance the accuracy and reliability of design.In this paper, the development of domestic and international electric vehicle and its styling were discussed. The development process of traditional vehicle styling and electric vehicle styling was analysed, and then influencing factors of electric vehicle styling design were discussed from four aspects which are national policy and market demand, inheritance and innovation, ergonomics and humanization, new material and new technology. The theory of computer aided geometry design was studied, and the modeling principle of Class-A surface, evaluation methodology and building method of complex area were presented. The styling design flows of traditional way which is based on physical model and modern way which is based on digitizing model were analysed, and then the better design flow which is based on Alias and Showcase combining physical model and digitizing model was presented. In this article the object of study was an electric wheel vehicle's styling design. From aspects of market study, making design plan, concept design, building CAS model, render design, initial review and refining model, the design method of electric vehicle styling was studied. The research result indicated that the digitized styling design flow being based on Alias and Showcase can completely fulfill high quality, high efficiency, shot cycle and low cost requirements of modern car styling design.
