Energy is the most important strategic supply for national economic and social development. In order to realize sustainable development, China must achieve the transformation of energy development mode which should be changed from simply meeting the needs of economic growth to equal development of demands and environmental benefits. Import LNG has great significance in the development of national economic and the adjustment of energy structure. It also can improve environmental quality and living standards and promote the coordinated development of economic and environment. However, China's LNG mainly relies on imports and its transportation mainly depends on water transportation. In water transportation process, channel is the key factor. LNG ship has the features of high cost and high risk. What's worse, LNG belongs to dangerous goods and even ranks higher than oil tanker in water transportation. Thus, LNG ship has particular requirements on channel.In order to ensure the safety of LNG ship entrying and exiting port, channel is required not only in its depth, width, direction and bending radius but also matched with related guide navaid facilities. When choosing channel, it should take the influences of natural conditions into consideration, such as wind, wave, tidal(flow), coastal mud and sand flow. The channel adaptability focuses on the research whether LNG ship can use channel to entry and exit port successfully or not and the influences of channel and surrounding environment and so on. The research and analysis of the channel adaptability of LNG ship entrying and exiting port is the necessary premise to guarantee LNG ship entrying and exiting port safely and ensure water environment safety.This thesis firstly introduces the features of LNG and LNG ship and the satety of LNG ship, and also explain the high risk of LNG ship transportation and the necessity of research on the adaptation of the LNG ship entrying and exiting channel. Then by the method of domestic and overseas comparative study, it analysises the adaptability of channel elements during LNG ship entrying and exiting port from channel width, channel depth, channel bent degree, channel anti-navigability, LNG ship safe area, navigational aids, channel address and other aspects. It also gives theory basis for expert judgment in research of channel adaptability of LNG entrying and exiting port. Next, this part researches on the channel adaptability of LNG entrying and exiting port based on the legal and fuzzy comprehensive evaluation model and taken the Dachan Island terminal project in western public channel as the example. The last chapter is the conclusion and outlook, which summarizes this thesis's contents and presents its deficiencies.
