With the development of large ships, some of channels which are relative to the large ship change into the confined channels. Based on the condition of current channel, studying single ship transit capacity in confined channel and looking for the condition of ship sailing safely are good for increasing freight throughput in port and optimizing ship loading and cutting down the fee of ship management and offering advice for security management for maritime department.Firstly, based on previous studies, the author summarizes the cause of ship squat and analyses the impact on ship squat by ship boundary layer. The author applies the theory of flat boundary layer to calculate ship boundary layer approximately. Based on the work of Doctor Tim Gourlay, the author applies mathematics to educe the formula of ship squat in confined channel by taking ship boundary layer in account and validates the formula of the calculation of ship squat with Wigley's mathematical hull.Secondly, the author discusses the cause of bank effect on ship and applies mathematics to educe the formula of bank lateral force on ships that sail in confined channel. Then the author summarizes six important factors on bank lateral force and validates the formula of the calculation of bank lateral force with Wigley's mathematical hull by applying the MATLAB to analysis.There must be some useful significance in the result of this research for calculating the condition of the ship sailing safely in the confined channel and security management for maritime department.
