| With the rapid development of the logistics industry, single container transport mode has cannot satisfied the requirement of customers, such as efficiency, speediness, security and low-cost. So, container multimodal transportation has been developing rapidly recently. Container multimodal transportation is the product of the development of modern logistics. It is the senior form of container transportation. It is one of the best ways of collaboration and competition.At present, when studying the container multimodal transportation, most scholars generally assume the transport time, the transport costs, transit time and transit costs are fixed. They study the deterministic container multimodal transportation more, and the researches on uncertain and stochastic optimization of it are less. So, this paper analyzes the uncertainty of container transit time during the multimodal transportation process, in order to research its influence on the optimal selection of transport path and transport modes. Finally, the paper analysis the solving results in order to discover rules and guide practice.Firstly, this paper introduced the theory of container multimodal transportation. Secondly, the paper expounded the concept, elements, transport modes, relevant time and costs. Thirdly, considering the transport path and transport modes comprehensively, an optimal model with a time constraint was established, which aimed to minimize the total cost that included transportation costs and transit costs. Then, he optimal model was turned into a shortest path model with one time constraint, and the method of solving it was given. Finally, taking the goods transportation through a certain container multimodal network for example, this paper analyzed the influence of transit time on the selection of transport path and transport modes and the optimal results, in order to auxiliary container multimodal transport operator and the owner of goods on decision-making.
