Analysis On Satety Of Urban Signalized Intersection

Urban intersection is both the key junction point of road transport network and the blackspot of traffic accidents. The safe condition of urban interjection plays a very important role in the safety level of the whole area. In order to improve the performance of road transport safety and reduce the occurence of traffic accidents, the transport safety situation of urban road intersection should be objectively evaluated. Then improvement plan should be proposed to improve the safety performance and operating efficiency of urban intersection.In this paper, the current evaluating methods of plane intersection is briefly introduced, and the pros and cons of the methods based on traffic accidents statistics are analyzed. Aiming at the drawback of traditional urban intersection safety evaluation methods, a plane urban intersection safety evaluation methods based on multi-factors is proposed.On the basis of the research situation of intersection safety technology from home and abroad, this paper focus on the factors which affect intersection safety and the application of conflict techniques and signal phase technology in intersection safety. The measure standards and discrimination standards of transport conflict survey is analyzed. After the analyzation of transport flow features and road condition, the conclusion can be reached that the main factors of intersection safety are the number of the roads intersected, the number of conflicts and signal control.
