| Islam, Buddhism and Christianity are called the world's three major religions. In 651, Tang Emperor Yong Hui years, Da Shi sent messengers to Tang in order to build a friendly relationship. In ancient China, Islam was also known as the Method of Da Shi, Da Shi, Tian Fang, Qing Zhen, Hui Hui and Hui, etc. Islam (Islam) is the Arabic transliteration and a homonym of Arabic word "Sin-Lam-Mim". In addition to referring to the religion itself, the word Islam means submission to God, peace, and the way to peace. An adherent of Islam is called a Muslim. As to the needs of Muslims doing their daily religious worship and communicating religious affairs, they need a place. Therefore, mosques appeared in China. Mosque architecture is a continuation of pre-Islamic architecture of palaces built during the Parthian and Sassanian dynasties of Persia. With the spread of Islam in China, the style of mosques was deeply influenced by Chinese classical traditional architectures and the two different styles combined perfectly. Lanzhou as the center of territory of China is one of the most significant city on the Silk Road. According to 1997 statistics, there are 103 places for worship or religious affairs by Muslims (including 84 Mosques and 19 Gongbei), which located in the Chengguan District, Qi Lihe District, Honggu District, Anning District, Xigu District, Yongdeng and Yuzhong Country. This paper mainly discusses the mosques building system in China, architectural decorative styles and their features. In addition, this paper explores the using of mosques architectural decorative elements in the building system and takes mosques in Lanzhou as an example for survey. It probes into the general situation of Lanzhou mosques, the lists of mosques, the actual state, the development and the protection of mosques, etc. |
