Numerically-controlled machine tool development direction is sophisticated, high-speed, complex, intelligent and environmentally friendly and it demands higher specification of drive units. Linear drive device is an important part of machine tool, in many of linear drives and systems the intermediate conversion is used to change rotary motion into linear motion. The conversion mechanism will bring all kinds of adverse effects and restricts the further improvement of system performance. With motor and drive control technology it appears "direct drive" linear motor, which eliminates intermediate links and drive the load directly, eliminating the gap caused by the mechanical transmission, compliance and other related issues. This paper present a depth research on permanent magnet linear synchronous motor operation principle, control strategy and its servo control system hardware and software design.The structure of permanent magnet linear synchronous motor and its operating principle are analyzed. With the introduction of coordinate transformation theory and the vector control theory, the synchronous rotating coordinate mathematical model of permanent magnet linear synchronous motores is established. Voltage space vector control technology and vector control system are introduced.The control strategy of each loop of PMLSM servo control system is constituted from the inside to the outside. Present a mover mass identification and compensation strategies in current loop to restrain system mover mass variation. Introduce variable gain PI controller in velocity control which is the optimization of regular PI controller and composite feedforward controller in position control.Hardware and software design of servo control system is described in detail. Hardware design includes TI's TMS320F2812 DSP as the core of system control circuit, an intelligent power module IPM as the core of system power driver circuit and external auxiliary circuits. Software design in accordance with the modular design concept design, including main program And the vector control interrupt program. Main program accomplish initialization and main man-machine interface etc. Interrupted processing module accomplish servo control algorithm. PMLSM servo control system simulation model is establish in MATLAB/Simulink simulation environment, to make the simulation experiments more comparable, the modeling process consistent with the real system hardware and software design. Simulation experiment and system preliminary test results demonstrate the correctness of this design, it build a foundation for further research such as system optimization and control methods improvement.
