Small Towns Space Development Research Based On The Historical Structures In Xianyang Area

Since the 90s of last century, small towns have undergone enormous changes, and made many remarkable achievements in our country. However, the loss of characteristics of small towns, blind expand, and "thousands cities are the same" phenomenon intensified. This paper regards the historical structures as the break-through, makes the small towns space develop on the road of characteristic development which is based on the historical structures and full of times tendency, and explores the unique construction strategies of spatial form and townscape of small towns.This paper regarded the historical structures of the small towns as a starting point and studied three typical small towns in Xianyang area comprehensively. This paper will make contribution to the construction of the spatial structure, forms and townscapes of characteristic small towns, the excavation of local regional culture and the construction of extremely characteristic public space of small towns. It also provided theoretical support for the construction of the characteristic spatial structure and forms of small towns.By analyzing the space forming process of traditional small towns based on the historical structures, this paper summed up main types, features and the effects in traditional towns spatial the historical structures. It also summed up the problems that exist in small towns space development in terms of the relationships between the historical structures and spatial structures, forms and townscapes of the towns in the process of inheritance and innovative application of historical structures. According to the study of the theory of the urban spatial development, the strategy about characteristic space construction of small towns was put forward. According to the problems that lacking features and disorder of urban space, the government departments must be based on the theory research and deep understanding in the process of planning and construction characteristic small town space system. And the government departments should pay attention to historical and cultural resources and regional culture which have important positions and roles in town features shape and guide the spatial development of small towns onto contemporary and characteristic development road which is based on history and culture.
