In this paper, the low voltage ride through (LVRT) testing device has been studied, Topics is from Specific practical projects which is Participating during the internship period in Electric Power Research Institute in China. Device has been successfully put into operation. The main purpose of the device is to test wind turbine before which go into the grid to make it to meet the grid requirements. The main contents of the article is the research of Protection program and the analysis of Device characteristics. This paper describes the development of domestic wind power and the ability of low-voltage ride through of wind turbine at the moment and the structure of LVRT testing device, Protection program and operating characteristics were studied and analyzed. This device uses impedance divider type structure scheme which can achieve different levels of voltage drop and a recovery or step recovery. The reactors and thyristor valves were protected by the protection of the breaker which is protected by the use of line protection. In this paper, first component protection program, setting the principles and values set is made a detailed introduction. Then we established Simulation model in the PSCAD/EMTDC to verify the drop and recovery characteristics, and the simulation and analysis on the impact factors of on the impact factors of test points voltage. At last the performance of the device was further verified by the date of load test and with fan test. This low voltage developed across the (LVRT) test device is basically achieve the desired effect, and the device have a significance for large-scale wind power on the grid, the development of wind power, even the development of clean energy.
