Although synthetic test method has been widely applied in breaking test of circuit breaker, as synthetic making test under full voltage, it has been relatively less studied and applied. Besides the economic effect, the another greater important reason is that the validity of synthetic making test has brought higher requirements to the closing devices of current source and time precision of control system. The primary background of this research is based on synthetic test of high voltage switches. The International Electrical Committee (IEC) standards and national standards on synthetic test of high voltage circuit breaker are taken as the guidance of our research. The development and status of test methods are summarized about high voltage circuit breaker and the principles and significance of synthetic making test are described. This thesis point out the synthetic making test content and target what we will research on.Based on the requirements of circuit breaker, this paper describes the load requirements when closing circuit breaker should meet. It introduced the test circuit setup of synthetic making test and the performance of current source making device and correlative theory for it. The launching device of current source, which based on triggered vacuum switch and fast vacuum circuit breaker are introduced in our research and the process of the current shifting from triggered vacuum switch to fast vacuum circuit breaker is analyzed. As a result, the triggering time delay of triggered vacuum switch is at microsecond level and the closing time of fast vacuum circuit breaker is less than 10 ms that meets the demands of making the current source fastly and stably. The research focuses on the impact of the vacuum gap triggering factors, including electrode geometry, electrode materials, sophisticated effect, the gap size, the vacuum degree and so on.In order to meet the equivalent condition and performance of synthetic test with direct test, voltage and current stress must be satisfied with requirements of test standard, the closing phase of applied voltage and the phase difference between applied voltage and making current must be restricted in the allowable range. Based on the synchronous closing technology, the phase of applied voltage and making current is detected in real time, so above mentioned requirement can be fulfilled.According to previous research and theoretical analysis, the prototype of the proposed launching device of current source at rated parameter 110KV/40KA and the synthetic making test are fulfilled and checked. The results of the experiments indicate that the launching device of current source and the measurement and control system for synthetic making test perform reliably. The research and design target of this paper are obtained successfully.
