With the development of China's economy and society, China has entered the fast-development period of LNG transportation. However, China's natural gas resource is not abundant, most of the gas needs to be imported from foreign countries through waterway. In recent years, more and more large LNG terminal projects are being built, with the matching channel projects gradually increased. As to ship types, the LNG vessel is of high danger, more inflammable, more explosive and poor handling in comparison to the tanker ship. If one LNG accident happens, it will cause tremendous effect on port. As to channel width design theory, the wider, the safer for navigation. But in practical engineering, the waterway construction project need huge capital investment, the wrong design of channel width will lead to the waste of human and financial resources. Therefore, safety and economy of channel project plays a very important role in the safe navigation of LNG vessel, port sustainable development and the construction of conservation-conscious society.For these realities, it is very significant to study the width of the large-scale LNG channel with scientific methods. The existing LNG terminal design provides the channel width, but it is obviously rough in quantitative terms, and short of verification and risk demonstration. It is a breakthrough for the outstanding issues based on "Shandong liquefied petroleum gas terminal project navigation safety research project". Design of a large LNG ship channel width-saving algorithm uses NT-PRO4000 type of ship handling simulator for ship handling simulation, studies the regular pattern of large LNG ship navigation, introduces from a common community standard concept of acceptable risk established for large LNG standard of acceptable risk, and then adopts the appropriate channel width of the original program design for evaluation of risk probability. The thesis studies LNG carrier as long as 360m to calculate the economical program of channel width, prove the same low risk as the original program by grounding model verification, and finally with the cost-effective method to estimate a conservation project funding. In summary, this study is to master the maneuverability and the risk probability calculation for the key study, and provide a new way of thinking for the study of economy and safety of the width of the fairway.The paper includes the following five parts:The first part is quotation, which mainly introduces the research background, objective significance, research status and the research methods of this paper; The second part is about the particularity of large LNG Carrier and the methods of channel width design research, including domestic and international methods about the channel width of LNG carrier, mainly pointing out the problems existing in the current methods; The third part is the algorithm design of the economical channel width, mainly through the way of "simulation experiment-setting acceptable risk standard-economical channel width plan-risk probability calculation"; The fourth part is about large LNG carrier economical channel width analysis, to do the example research according to ship ideology on representative ship type. The fifth part is the conclusion and prospect of paper, which summarized the paper and proposed deficiencies.
