In recent 20 years, with the rapid development of economic, the increasing of world trade make the ship traffic has developped. Ships play a very important role for the world. But with the income increating and development of economic, it has also caused much serious environmental pollution; obviously, all the waters around the piers and shipyards have different degrees of oil pollution. December 2009 in Copenhagen, China strongly desire every country to sign the "United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change", though unfortunately failed, it also reflect the national importance of the issue of environmental pollution and the environmental determination. The power of wind as a kind of clean energy has been widely used, and has been shown as propulsion of ship which has a good effect. The performance of sailing will be calculated and analyzed, for the best performance of wingsail, and on the basis, the energy-saving the wingsail provide will be calculated.First of all, The aerodynamic characteristics of the section of wingsail have been calculated with the application of CFD software; Second, based on optimization of sailing, the energy-saving of wingsails can be calculated, and Sailing to optimize the design. Thirdly, sailing in practical applications not only has advantages but shortcomings, this paper will briefly tell the Sailing adverse impact on the ship. Finally, based on the research of the application of wingsail, some suggestions for improvement have been put forward.
