Absorbing material is a kind of materials which can absorb the electromagnetic energy and convert it into heat. With the development of modern science and technology, absorbing materials have been applied far beyond the military aspects and more widely used in human security, microwave anechoic chamber, communication and navigation systems, electromagnetic interference, safety information security, electromagnetic compatibility, radiation, and many other nuclear reactors.Usually, it is quite difficult to obtain the high absorption, broadband frequency, light weight and other requirements for the traditional single-absorbing materials. However, the gradient structures of absorbing materials have more advantages than single one. Existing research results show that the gradient structure has not only better absorbing properties but also can reduce the weight of the structure.Based on the electromagnetic wave theory and the finite element analysis software, e.g., Comsol Multiphysics, we developed a model of functionally graded (FGM) absorbing materials for the analyses of the electric field, temperature and stress distribution in an absorber plate. The results about the thin absorbing plate embeded with particles were presented finally. The work of the present thesis not only broadens the scope of application of the model, but also provide a theoretical basis for the design and preparation of absorbing material.
