At the present, more and more cities are faced with the problem of traffic jam along with the economic development. How to ease traffic jam? This question troubles various cities, especially the large cities. The way to impose traffic jam fee to ease traffic jam is gradually put on, and this policy has implemented in many cities.RFID technology can be used to achieve vehicle identification, in order to get the travel days of vehicles. According to the vehicle's travel days, traffic management department can impose traffic jam fee. The impact of this economic leverage can limit the vehicle's travel. In the end, the aim to ease traffic jam can be achieved.The content of paper includes:1. The development and standard of RFID technology are introduced. Composition and principle of RFID system are also analysis and researched; 2. According to the characteristics of RFID technology, the feasibility of this system is proved and its goal is put forward through the analysis of the demand of the whole scheme. The system process and overall scheme are designed. The composition and its function are introduced; 3. The study of an improved slotted ALOHA algorithm id introduced, which can used to defend the collision of RFID tags. The principal of the improved algorithm is described, and the simulation results of Matlab are used to prove the improved algorithm's advantages in recognition efficiency and power.4. The inside of RSU mainly includes vehicle identification module and the remote communication module. Vehicle identification module mainly uses RFID technology to realize the wireless communication between reader and tag. The basic circuit of RF module is designed. Furthermore data transceiver between reader and tag is finished in the experiment. Remote communication is executed in the existing Ethernet to the remote server. The circuit of Ethernet controller is designed. Serial port debug and data transceiver test have done through the RTL8019AS development module.5. The process of vehicle travel data and traffic jam fee calculation. the related database is established. Vehicles travel days can be get through the database. At the same time, a feasible congestion computing algorithm is put forward. These applications are all developed on computer.The improved algorithm can improve recognition efficiency and reduce power consumption, which could be applied to identify a patch of fast tags. In this way, Vehicle can be identified effectively. Furthermore, the information of vehicle can be send to the remote server in time. Then it can be processed to get the travel days of vehicle. This method can be successfully used to vehicle identification and charge for traffic jam. In a word, the goal can be achieved to ease traffic congestion.
