In-Vehicle Network can effectively use and share of resources, which began to be widely applied in the late nineties of last century as a new automotive technology. Domestic automobile manufacturers have started to use until recent years, so it is serious to lack of personnel and equipments for inspection and maintenance of network technology.It results in the development of diagnostic equipment for vehicle.The diagnostic apparatus is based on the CAN network protocol of the vehicle, it's developed in a PDA. From the CAN-bus and the application layer protocol, this fault diagnosis equipment can mostly meet the practical requirements of actual work-environment. At first it have set up the structure of whole hardware system by the early study of agreement, then customized WinCE operating system and developped drive programs. Finally,the paper developped the diagnostic programs in accordance with the requirements, including the design of interface,and realization of modules function .Finally, through the bench test and the real car trial, it is proved that the apparatus be simple, convenient, and real-time when diagnosing the target vehicle. it also fulfils programmers to maintain data and get the expansion and modification of testing procedures .This research can provide good after-sales service and technical support for the CAN-bus system, also reserve technical of product development for corporation .
